Kovalam is one of the most popular places to visit in Kerala, it is a beach town on the Arabian Sea coast which was once a fishing village which later transformed to an important tourist destination in Kerala.The word kovalam means grove of coconut trees. The beach is perfect for honeymooners to have an enjoyable walk through the beach and take back many beautiful memories back home. There are 3 beaches in kovalam which are separated by rocky extensions in its 17 km coastline, the three together form the famous crescent of the Kovalam beach.The 3 beaches are Hawah beach, samudra beach and lighthouse beach. Light House Beach: The Lighthouse beach got its name as a result of the Vizhinjam Lighthouse that is located on thirty five meter top of the Kurumkal hillock. The light house is built using colored stones in red and white. Light house beach is one of the most visited places by tourists in kerala.
